graham-lyonsGRAHAM LYONS, the founder and practice administrator of Family First, was a practising barrister for 35 years following a career in commerce. He has been a specialist family law mediator since 1998. He has handled more than 1,000 family mediation cases; about half have been with Legal Aid clients for which he is quality mark licensed. He is qualified to supervise other family mediators nationwide and contributes to legal journals on family mediation. Graham has a university Diploma for Child Protection, a Certificate for Counselling and is licensed to consult with children.

zalika-akinseteZALIKA AKINSETE is a qualified family mediator with previous experience of resolving conflict in the social housing sector. She conducts a wide range of mediations, both for private and legally aided clients, involving living arrangements for children, property and finance and all issues mediations. She is qualified to conduct direct consultations with children and works on Teens and Toddlers, a youth development programme, helping young people stay in school and fulfill their educational, employment and personal potential. She has qualifications in Counselling Skills and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

kate-brownKATE BROWN After a 25-year career in television, managing teams of creative people (as well as a team of children at home), Kate started to put her problem-solving skills and natural empathy to work to help colleagues and friends resolve their financial and family issues following separation and divorce. She formally qualified as a Family Mediator with the FMA in 2015 and is trained to bring children into the mediation process. Kate is a passionate believer that mediation can help couples, even in the most challenging circumstances, reach a lasting and mutually-beneficial agreement without going to court.

iain-christieIAIN CHRISTIE works with private clients in central London. He is an accredited family, civil and workplace mediator and deals with all issues including children and finances on divorce and separation. He is qualified to see children in direct consultation. Iain comes from a legal background as a barrister and diplomat and is also a professional actor. He has extensive qualifications in dispute resolution, facilitation and counselling. He is Secretary of the Civil Mediation Council which promotes the use of mediation throughout the UK.

Lucy OsafoLUCY OSAFO is a qualified mediator who trained with the Family Mediators Association. She is also a solicitor who, when practising, specialised in dealing with social welfare and debt issues. She now mediates with private and legally aided clients across the south east of London. Lucy has experience and empathy for people dealing with complex family issues and is passionately committed to ensuring that, through mediation, clients re-build communication and reach satisfactory arrangements with the best interests of the child at the forefront.


CAROL RYAN is a qualified family mediator. She is also a family solicitor with in excess of 20 years’ experience dealing with a wide range of family issues. Carol is a member of the College of Mediators. She is an accredited member of the Law Society Family Law Panel and accredited to see children in mediation. Carol qualified to undertake all issues family mediation in 2010. Her professional and life experiences enable her to understand the emotional and practical effects of relationship breakdown and to assist couples to find an amicable solution.

kathleen-straubKATHLEEN STRAUB works with private and legally aided clients across west London. She is a trained family mediator with the Family Mediators Association, and holds the full Family Mediation Council accreditation. Kathleen has a wide range of experience in the field of family law, and currently also works part time as a family solicitor. She mediates on all issues including children, property, and finances matters, arising out of divorce and separation. She has experience dealing with complex cases involving sensitive issues.
